Emergency Appointments
If you have a dental emergency then please contact our reception team before 10am and we will endeavour to allocate you an appointment for the same day or as soon as is suitable for you.
Please find below some advice on common dental emergencies.
A swollen face can indicate that you may have an abcess or infection. If the swelling is affecting your breathing, attend your local casualty department immediately. Contact the practice as soon as possible to get an appointment with your dentist as you may require treatment and an antibiotic.
Contact the surgery for an appointment as soon as possible. If the tooth that has broken has sharp edges, you may be able to purchase a temporary filling kit from your local chemist. Follow the instructions on the pack and contact the surgery for an appointment as soon as possible. Avoid chewing food with the broken tooth and very hot or cold drinks as this may cause discomfort and increase sensitivity.
Excessive bleeding after a tooth extraction or injury Excessive bleeding after a tooth extraction or injury requires immediate attention. Contact the surgery immediately. If the surgery is closed attend your local casualty department. To help reduce the bleeding, apply pressure to the socket by clamping a small pad of gauze or clean linen firmly between the jaws for 15 minutes, repeat if necessary.
Do not attempt to replace the crown or bridge using superglue or any other adhesive product. If the crown or bridge is at the back of your mouth leave it out and keep it in a safe place. Contact the surgery for an appointment as soon as possible. If the crown or bridge is at the front of your mouth, you may be able to purchase a temporary crown cement from your local chemist. Follow the instructions on the pack and contact the surgery for an appointment as soon as possible.
